Acronym Generator

Turn any phrase into an acronym with optional stopword skipping and periods.

Take the first letter of each word in a phrase and produce a clean acronym. Toggle stopword skipping (a, an, the, of, in…) and period insertion (e.g. U.S.A.). Useful for naming projects, product codes and internal tools.

Common use cases

  • Coin a name for an internal project or product (KISS, MVP, SaaS)
  • Generate ticker-style codes for events or campaigns
  • Teach kids how acronyms are formed in language class
  • Build cleaner abbreviations for course or department names

Frequently asked questions

Acronym vs initialism?
An acronym is pronounced as a word (NASA, scuba); an initialism is spelled out (FBI, USA). This tool generates the letters — pronunciation is up to you.
Why skip stopwords?
Skipping 'the', 'of' etc. produces tighter acronyms. NASA skips 'and' (National Aeronautics and Space Administration → NASA, not NAASA).
Does it handle hyphenated words?
Hyphenated words count as one word — only the first letter is taken. Split with a space for separate letters.
